How I lost 4.8 kg in 17 days with intermittent fasting.

Three years ago I had an open heart surgery in which i had quadruple bypass . Back then I tipped the scale at 95 kg. Through my rehab afterward I settled at 80 kg. But the weight kept coming back. After many yo-yo dieting trials nothing seemed to help. It was all short lived states where I would feel good for some weight loss but before you jubilate you face the hard reality with the scale. Total disappointment. Then I became interested in intermittent fasting. I read Dr. Bert Herring book and followed many talks by top specialists in the field like Drs. Jason Fung, Josh Axe, Eric berg, Mike VanDerschelden , Michael Lara, and Krista Varady among others.

For those of you who are not familiar with IF it is simply a new eating routine where you restrict your intake of food thus calories within a feeding window which spans between 5 to 8 hours and fast for the remaining hours. So if you want to start with the 8/16 hours you will have an 8 hours feeding window with 16 hours of fasting. You can set the time according to your daily schedule. During the fast you can and should consume water and allowed any coffee ,tea, and herbal teas but without sugar. That means you can drink your liquids that are calorie-free during the fast. During your feeding window you should have a balanced healthy diet.

So back to my story. On October 28,2017 I started my journey with IF. My initial weight was 88.2 kg and this morning I was happy to see me dropping to 83.4 kg. That is a loss of 4.8 kg in 17 days. Of course I have a lot to lose but that start gave me the incentive to continue until I reach my goal of 68 kg.

So how did I do that?

I started with the 8/16 hours regime for 4 days then quickly adapted to the 5/19 hours. I do work out for 20 minutes and walk on the treadmill for 20 minutes a day 6 days a week. My diet is the same just eating within the feeding window. I take a daily supplement of Omega-3 and vitamins and minerals plus my daily medications for high blood-pressure ,cholesterol ,and triglycerides. I am 56 years old.

So why I am doing that?

First of all to lose 20 kg so I reach my ideal weight.

Second to hopefully get rid of all my medications.

And finally to reap the many benefits of IF that deserve another article.
